So... here it is late January, next week it's supposed to be cold, icy, snowy and crappy most of the week. I REALLY hate winter. Guess I'm totally in the wrong job to hate winters. I work for the highway department and that means every time the weather is bad, I have to work. Other than that, I like my job. But, I'm still waiting to win the lottery so I can move south. : ) I need warmer weather!!!
New News
It's almost the end of October and I see I haven't written on here since February. A lot has happened since then. My first granddaughter is almost a year old, her birthday is Nov. 21st. My oldest daughter is pregnant with her second child, she is due Feb. 1st. My youngest daughter is half way through her senior year in high school. She has a horse now too, in addition to her dog. She starts a new job on Monday at a burger place downtown. Our family is going to South Padre Island next week for a week, maybe two. We still have the white limo, although business has slowed down tremendously. We make airport runs too, those we usually do in the Navigator though. My husband is working in St. Louis right now, but as soon as he gets home we are headed south. I can't wait! That's all for now. I've updated some photos too, check them out.
New Things Going On
Wow, so much has changed since my last blog. I am now a proud grand mother. My grand daughter is now 3 months old and just the most adorable kid. My oldest daughter is in college and making straight A's for the first time in her life! It's pretty funny because she hated school her entire childhood. Now she is married, a new mother AND a college student. My youngest daughter is a straight A student in High School. She loves journalism class and year book class. She has a wonderful boyfriend aand she jsut recently became the proud owner of a 5 month old female Weimaraner puppy. The puppy is a handful, but she is adorable.
My husband and I still have our limousine business and it's picking up little by little. We are sure proud of that.
The winter weather has sure been bad this year and I hate it. I have been to South Padre Island 3 times in the last few months just to get away from the crappy weather and get to a warmer climate. I love it there!!!!
That's all for now.
Dr. Dubois' Poem
The poem below was written for my mother's doctor. He is an AWESOME man.
We credit him for saving Mom's life.
The Healing Touch
In a hospital she was lying,
getting worse with each passing day.
Something else had to be done,
and soon help was on it's way.
She was transferred to your hospital,
we trusted you with her care.
We sat there with her every day,
at times she didn't even know we were there.
We had to believe she would get better,
and we'd ask you about her progress.
I'll bet we asked ten times a day,
our family was such a mess.
You spoke to us with a smile
every time you came to see her.
You were so positive and caring,
we just knew you had the cure.
For a while though things got worse,
it was so hard for her to fight.
She was so weak and so tired,
but we kept telling her to hold on tight.
You asked us how long we wanted to do this,
when we asked you what you meant,
you surprised us all with what you said.
We believed you thought her life was spent.
But in reality I think you were testing us
to see how far we'd go,
to save the one we loved so much
even if her recovery would be slow.
God sent you to us, we're all convinced
and He gave you a wonderful gift.
The healing touch that you possess
must give you such a lift.
Our mother is, as all mothers are,
so special to her clan.
We are thankful to you for saving her,
it was all in God's special plan.
Words can't express how we feel,
Thank you Dr. Dubois.
The Stringer Family
A Little About Me
I was born and raised in California, but was transplanted into Oklahoma after my dad retired from the U.S. Navy in 1974. I still miss the ocean and that wonderful weather but I think I am more of an Oklahoman now than a Californian.
I am married to my soul mate. We've been together since 1982. We have been blessed with two girls. My oldest is married and about to make me a grandma for the first time in November. She looks a great deal like me and she is a wonderful person. My youngest is a junior in high school, looks like her dad and she is a beautiful, loving, smart girl. I consider them both my friends.
My husband and I have recently started a limousine business and we are in the process of trying to get that off the ground. It's called Up Front Limousine.
I enjoy going to the lake with my family on weekends, but not only in the summer, we like to go in the winter just to have a place to unwind. My favorite vacation spot is South Padre Island, Texas. I think I'd move there if I won the lottery! : )
